* Who do we mean by “underrepresented”?
We use “underrepresented” to refer to groups who have historically been less visible in postgraduate research or who may experience structural barriers to progression. This includes, for example:
- people from minoritised ethnic backgrounds
- disabled students
- those from lower socio‑economic backgrounds
- LGBTQ+ applicants
- women in energy research
These groups, among others, may face additional challenges in accessing PGR opportunities, and the Hub aims to help remove those barriers.
