FA2: EDI Challenges, Round 2
Research increasingly highlights the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people in STEM and Energy research, including underrepresentation and experiences of stigma. Addressing these inequalities is not only a matter of inclusion but is also essential to ensuring that these fields can attract and retain the diverse talent needed to address some of the world's most pressing challenges. UK Higher Education institutions have implemented a range of practices – defined here as policies, activities, or actions – aimed at supporting LGBTQ+ communities and fostering more inclusive environments. This project aims to understand how these practices are perceived, how they relate to existing barriers and facilitators, and what solutions can be co-produced to address identified gaps and needs.
