Energising Equity: Co-developing a Framework for the inclusion of neurodivergent energy researchers

Funded_Project | 21-08-2023

Dr Vanda Papafilippou (University of the West of England), Dr Anna Chatzimichali (University of Bath), Dr Marianthi Leon (University of the West of England)

FA2: EDI Challenges

Neurodivergent individuals have the potential to make valuable contributions to the field of energy research. However, evidence suggests that they are often marginalised in the workforce, thus hindering the full utilization of their skills and talents. This research proposal aims to investigate the barriers that prevent neurodivergent individuals from realising their potential in energy research, paving the way for a more innovative and effective energy sector. By investigating the barriers and challenges faced by neurodivergent researchers in the energy industry, as well as potential solutions and recommendations for creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce, we can promote greater diversity and inclusivity, leading to a more effective and sustainable energy sector. A more inclusive representation of the population in energy research holds the potential to a deeper understanding of the different needs and perspectives of energy stakeholders and can lead to breakthroughs and advancements that benefit society as a whole.
