Recruiting a diverse cohort of postgraduate researchers (PGRs) is a growing priority across higher education, especially within research-intensive environments like the University of Manchester. This case study outlines a series of pilot-scale initiatives led by the Prof Scott Heath, Associate Dean for Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers, aimed at improving equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within PGR recruitment processes. These initiatives were implemented under constrained budgets and limited data availability, yet they demonstrate tangible progress and offer a framework for systemic cultural change.
