Tell us a little bit about you

I am the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Programme Manager at the Institute of Physics’ (IOP). I work closely with the IOP members, the physics community and STEM colleagues to deliver external facing IOP programmes. This includes the development of the new Physics Inclusion Award, reviewing Project Juno - the IOP's flagship gender equality award established in 2008, and managing the LGBT+ Physical Science Network. I also am a member of the inaugural Research England EDI Expert Advisory Group and a Trustee for Laamiga, a mentoring and coaching charity for women from minority ethnic and migrant and refugee backgrounds.

What is your area of research and what project(s) are you working on now?

Co-Investigator for the IGNITE+ Flexible Funded project - "Assessing the Use of Natural Language Processing NLP in Reviewing STEM Research Grant Applications".

Developing the IOP's new "Physics Inclusion Award" which will supersede Project Juno, (the IOP’s flagship gender equality award for departments/schools of physics and other related organisations). The Award will recognise a wider remit of EDI work and address the broader range of challenges now facing the physics community within higher education.
