Tell us a little bit about you
I am an early-career researcher working across energy and sustainability challenges. I am a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. I am a big fan of the outdoors, enjoying hikes in the wilderness with my partner and two dogs, kayaking and open-water swimming.
What is your area of research and what project(s) are you working on now?
My research spans across geology, chemistry, and engineering. I am currently working on mechanochemical greenhouse gas capture into silicate rocks during aggregate production, a new form of gas capture to aid in the decarbonisation of industrial processes such as cement manufacture. My past research has included characterising groundwater infiltration using dissolved organics and understanding the long-term response of an underground geological repository to the effects of glaciations on the groundwater system by simulating full-scale loading and unloading of a glacier by draining and refilling a surface reservoir.
