FA2: EDI Challenges, Round 2

Graduate and Degree Apprenticeships (G/DA) have the potential to provide access to Higher Education where full-time education seems out of reach. Anecdotally, this potential is yet to be fulfilled. A national-scale, data-led understanding of the G/DA experience is needed to make informed interventions. Previous interventions have focussed on recruitment and the student experience on single programmes at single providers. By gaining a national-scale, holistic and informed overview of apprenticeships in multiple subject areas and at multiple providers, coupled with experience of previous interventions, we will be able to design and facilitate data-led interventions. By intervening in the apprenticeship landscape at the national scale, we will enable inclusion in degree programmes and a career in energy research a real possibility to those who may be excluded from the traditional routes into the energy research sector.
