IGNITE Network+ were invited to participate in the first ever Barra & Vatersay Science Festival, 6 and 7 July 2023.  The team ran activities to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers by challenging stereotypes.  Younger children were invited to draw a scientist, and older children and adults were invited to a play a game to try to match the scientist or engineer with their photograph and find the red herring.

Prof Becky Lunn, Director of IGNITE gave a fantastic talk about the net zero challenge ahead which included future tech options such as gravity energy and sand batteries for heat storage which was perfect timing to round off Net Zero Week.
