Tell us a little bit about you

Originally from Norway, I have lived in the UK for just over a decade. My academic background is in organisational psychology, investigating the successful career progression of marginalised groups in STEM. Primarily, this has been focused on the careers of women and intersectionalities of women.

What is your area of research and what project(s) are you working on now?

I am currently working on a project that explores how AI is utilised in labs, including EDI career outcomes for the involved scientists.

What do you think are the challenges for equity/equality, diversity and inclusion in the energy research community in reaching netzero targets by 2050?

The drivers of inequity are many, and the most important are systemic. Addressing the systemic factors are the most difficult to address but the most likely to meet long term equity goals.

What advice would you give to a young person considering a career in Energy Research?

Be open to opportunities, even if they look different to what you have imagined. Get a mentor who can help you learn more about opportunities available, recommendations for overcoming challenges, and consider the impact of choices you make.

Fun question: If you had a magic wand, what is one thing you would change right now?

Equitable research funding allocation with stipulations for protecting the careers of scientists.
