Tongtong Zhang focuses on the thermo-mechanical energy conversion and storage technologies (with a concentration on liquid air energy storage, compressed air energy storage, Carnot batteries, etc.) and industrial decarbonization that covers both device modelling, process optimisation and system integration. In the past three years, she has been involved in more than 10 research projects, including 5 funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Innovate UK, 1 by the European Union fund, and 3 by corporate sponsors (among which she has led 1). She currently serves as a member of the Early Career Committee of the UK Supergen Energy Storage Network Plus, a Youth Editorial Board member for three clean energy-related journals, a review editor for Frontiers in Energy Research, and a guest editor for several energy storage-related special issues in various journals.
